The NDE Badge Certification is a new system designed to honor schools and districts that go above and beyond in implementing safety and security measures. With this badge, schools can be recognized at three levels: Diamond, Gold, and Silver. Each level represents a school’s adherence to rigorous standards in safety and security. The Diamond Badge is the pinnacle, awarded to districts that meet the highest benchmarks set by NDE.
Brady Public Schools has earned the Diamond Badge, reflecting its outstanding efforts to prioritize and enhance school safety. This achievement is a testament to the district's dedication to the four pillars of school safety: prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
The rigorous criteria for earning the badge include the establishment of safety and threat assessment teams, the development of comprehensive emergency operations plans, the implementation of safety and security policies, and the completion of regular safety drills and trainings. Additionally, schools must address a range of safety concerns through policies related to digital threats, substance use, dating violence, and more.
For Brady Public Schools, this recognition is not only a reflection of its current safety measures but also a result of proactive steps taken to address safety concerns. Superintendent Ann Foster played a crucial role in securing a $227,500 Safety Grant. This grant was instrumental in enhancing the district’s security infrastructure, which includes a secure entryway with an office reconfiguration, keyless access control systems, and a modern PA system.
The district’s efforts in securing this grant, coupled with the successful implementation of safety measures, have positioned Brady Public Schools as a model for other districts striving to achieve similar levels of safety excellence.
