Preschool

In a significant step towards advancing early childhood education, Brady Public Schools is set to open its much-anticipated onsite preschool on September 4, 2024. This initiative marks the culmination of a decade-long vision championed by the Brady Board of Education and former Superintendents Mr. Bill Porter and Mr. James McGown, now spearheaded by Superintendent Mrs. Ann Foster.

The journey towards establishing this dedicated preschool began in 2014 when the Brady School district expanded its facilities, including the addition of a preschool room. However, for the past ten years, this space has served multiple purposes, not fully realizing its intended role for early childhood education.

Upon assuming office in July 2023, Superintendent Foster swiftly identified the community’s strong desire for enhanced early childhood educational opportunities. Through extensive community engagement, including surveys and informal discussions with local residents, she recognized the urgent need to prioritize early learning.

Bringing her wealth of experience and knowledge in early childhood education to the forefront, Superintendent Foster collaborated closely with the Brady Board of Education and various stakeholders to explore avenues for launching an onsite preschool. Their efforts culminated in a successful application for the Early Childhood Grant from the Nebraska Department of Education, securing $75,000 in funding to kickstart the preschool initiative.

The preschool will initially welcome 13 local youngsters, offering a curriculum designed to foster social and emotional development through play-based learning. Scheduled for four days a week from 8:00 to 11:30 am, the program will also focus on kindergarten readiness skills, ensuring that children receive a solid foundation for their educational journey.

Heading the preschool team is Ms. Jennifer Most, a dedicated Preschool Teacher with a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Assisting her is Paraprofessional Lisa Hoff, whose experience in working with preschool-aged children adds invaluable support to the educational environment.

Reflecting on the journey that led to this moment, Superintendent Foster remarked, "Watching this vision come together is a real blessing. We have an incredibly supportive community, and one way we can continue to give back is to provide early learning educational opportunities for future generations of learners."

With the opening of its onsite preschool, Brady Public Schools reaffirms its dedication to educational excellence and community empowerment, setting a promising course for the youngest members of the Brady community to thrive and succeed.
